As with the english springer spaniel, there is a show and a field english setter. The field variety is much more active and slightly smaller. These are beautiful dogs, with a speckled coat and feathery tails. They were developed in the 1800s from French hunting dogs. Another breed was developed around the same time, these dogs being the Llewellin setters. English Setters are loving, loyal, and always ready for a good walk.
